As of 1997, it is promoted in collaboration between the Scandinavian Societies of Cardiology in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden and the Scandinavian Association for Thoracic Surgery, which all have adopted the journal as their official organ. The principal aim of the journal is to promote cardiovascular research that crosses the borders between disciplines. The journal is a forum for the entire field of cardiovascular research, basic and clinical, thoracic surgery, transplantation, interventional cardiology and extracorporeal technology. Manuscripts will be reviewed for possible publication on the understanding that they have not been published, simultaneously submitted or accepted for publication elsewhere. Instructions for authors should be strictly followed. The journal is published in English, with six issues a year.
